Pastoral Care Ministry

is one of our focused ways to serve the seniors of our congregation, especially those who are no longer able to regularly attend worship services.

Susan DuMoulin, our Staff Associate Minister of Pastoral Care, nurtures our teams who deliver the services to seniors and develops this Ministry.

Visiting

Pastoral care visitors meet with senior members of the congregation, especially those who are no longer able to regularly attend worship services, in their residence on a regular basis to bring the spirit and love of Christ to them.  Susan DuMoulin co-ordinates this team.

Teleministry

Teleministers have regular telephone visits with those people who benefit from this contact to help them feel included in the life of the congregation.  Susan DuMoulin co-ordinates this team.

Prayer

This team engages in daily intercessory prayer for members with specific needs.  Eleanor Jackson co-ordinates this team, and receives  prayer requests. Also see our Prayer page on the website (click here).

Card making and writing

People create, write and send cards on behalf of the congregation to members and/or their families when they are ill, bereaved or going through major transitions.  Cards are also sent at times of celebration which the congregation wishes to acknowledge. Cards are made using members' artwork or photography.  Gloria Breault co-ordinates the card making and the card writing.

Flower donations & delivery

Flowers donated to the Sunday worship service are afterwards delivered to identified members, along with a visit.  The donors of the flowers are advised as to the distribution of their arrangement. Edythe Garrett, Jean Moore and Anne Sainas co-ordinate this ministry.

Healing ministries

A gentle, prayerful environment is provided for self-healing and energy transfer to those who are experiencing physical, mental or emotional pain.  Included are Healing Touch and Reiki.  (Please click here for more details).

Daytime Bible study

Seniors are vital participants in our weekly daytime bible study (Please click here for more details).

Transportation

Members with cars and time are called upon to enable seniors to attend services, events and activities.  Susan DuMoulin co-ordinates this team.

Special worship days

  • Elder Sunday: sometimes we hold a special service and luncheon to celebrate our elders;
