"Prayers of the Community"
A Prayer by Peggy Muncaster
November 15th, 2009
Divine beloved,
Thank you for the quiet rain pattering on our rooftops and soaking into the soil as we settle into the dark of winter. We feel the wind whipping about, bringing movement to the city and fresh air in our faces. We embrace the richness of experience available to us, moment by moment, just by living on this planet, in this city, in our bodies.
And now we turn inwards, finding the quiet space where thought can rest, and activity cease. We quiet our breath. May the light of your presence illuminate our thoughts and clarify us to the very core of our being, helping us to gain new understanding, new revelation, peace.
This is a space where we can nurture an awakening awareness of your love, of the love we can share with our fellow human beings, and of the planet we live on. This is a space where when we dwell in this light we can dissolve away thoughts of scarcity and mayham, worries and grief. Herein dwells the forgiveness and mercy and compassion we need to find and accept, and extend outward for peace on earth and good will towards man.
Here is where we find salvation.
Here is where our belief in separation can fall away, where the mass consciousness of suffering and neediness - of fear, of illusions, of grandeur and egoic possessiveness. - Where these illusions can fall away.
Here is where we can come together in greater wholeness, where we can find harmony.
Herein dwells the gift of consciousness, pure awareness, Infinite abundant awareness and love, coherence, unity, light, beauty.
We hold this space for eachother and in silence take a moment to breathe a prayer for that which lies dear to our heart.
Thank you.
(And now in the words Jesus taught his followers, in an interpretation by Rev. Bruce Sanguin)
Loving Presence, luminous in all creation,
hallowed be your name.
Thy Kin-dom come.
May we reflect on earth
the yielding perfection of the heavens.
Help us to receive
an illumined measure from the earth this day.
Forgive us when we trespass against others,
human and other-than-human,
as we forgive others who trespass against us.
Keep us on the path of wisdom
when we are tempted to take the selfish path.
May it be your rule we follow,
your power we exercise
and your radiance that allures.
May this be the truth that guides our lives,
the ground from which our future will grow,
until we meet again.
Amen.
