Prayers of the community
by Graham
"Loving God, you come to us more easily than we come to you,
Like a mother nursing her child and the child sometimes refuses to suckle
you never withdraw your love from us
And when we finally come to you, you nurture us with spiritual milk, and we
commune with the spirit.
You were always there, and, we often chose not to acknowledge you,
You are within us and in everything,
You have always been and are always,
May we build around, and upon you, as a cornerstone, the house that will
always have an open door, empty chairs for new dwellers and a warm fire to
welcome and provide respite to both the stranger and those who chose for a
while to live out side and now return.
In this house all are loved, cherished, and equal in your eyes. Free from
that which has kept us from you.
Like a Father teaching his child to ride a bike or a mother teaching her
child how to play baseball. You guide us, cheer us on, frequently catch us
when we fall, but always hold us when we fail those first few attempts. You,
the wise parent, knowing we will fall, allow us to learn and grow from that
stumble, you always love.
