Rev. Bruce Sanguin
Bruce was called to Canadian Memorial United Church in July of
1996, after serving 10 years in Toronto. This congregation’s historic
commitment to peace has profoundly shaped the focus of his ministry. He has
worked with the congregation to focus less on "running the church",
and more on the mission of being peace-makers in the name of Jesus Christ, on a
personal, community, and international level. He believes that God is alive and
at work in all faith traditions, and in all those whose intention is to
cultivate peace in their lives and in their world.
The challenge of the Christian faith is to exuberantly add our
own distinctive voice to those who are working for peace. He enjoys working with
the congregation to find new ways to get people out of meetings and into
ministry.
In April 2008 Bruce
published his latest book, The Emerging Church
(we have a preview on our press page) or visit
www.brucesanguin.com .
On a personal level, early mornings you can find Bruce at the
Kitsilano Community Centre gym, working out, or running beside the ocean. He is
a keen tennis player and a "wannabe" golfer. On most Friday evenings
you can catch him at the Fifth Avenue Cinema. He also finds time to do some
"pickin’ and grinnin" most days on his guitar. He is married to Ann
Evans, and has a daughter Sarah, who is making her way in the television and
film industry as an actor.
