Body Soul Sundays

A Nine-Month Jungian Program for Women
(A Marion Woodman Foundation Affiliated Workshop)

Body Soul Sundays is an intensive monthly program of immersion in the mysteries of the deep feminine. Women today do not have the ancient Eleusinian or Dionysian mystery rites to support us as we ripen into life. In our longing for eternal youth, we may miss the beauty of our soul’s journey. We have no time for the soulwork required of us, no time to feel the archetypal energies of Mother, Virgin, and Crone ripple through our bodies and souls.
During this workshop cycle, we will take the myth of Demeter and Persephone as the ground of our exploration, and enter the realm of soul-making—through myth and ritual, dreamwork and writing, music and movement, art and voice work. Readings from C. G. Jung will provide a solid grounding for our experiential work, and films on Marion Woodman will bring her Crone presence into the group.

Dates: September 2009–May 2010, every fourth Sunday, starting September 20, 2–6 pm

Please contact Dr. Marlene Schiwy for more information.

The Hakomi Method

The Hakomi Method, its roots in body-centered psychotherapy, has evolved into a method of assisted self-study and emotional healing based on loving presence and mindfulness. The principles and techniques of Hakomi offer a powerful framework for facilitating personal growth for individuals, couples, and groups, and offer people in caregiving professions subtle and powerful tools to enhance their work. Through focused attention on present experience in all its forms (thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and memories), we can become aware of the deep habits and beliefs that shape and colour our experience of life and often are the cause of unnecessary suffering. Once these habits are brought to awareness, new experiences are possible and we can learn to live more fulfilling lives.

Vancouver’s training model is a multi-level learning experience that includes new, continuing, and advanced students in monthly training sessions and workshops. The leadership team also delivers programs and customized training to business and professional organizations in Canada, the US, and internationally.

ThetaHealing™

ThetaHealing™ is a technique that teaches how to put to use our natural intuition, relying on unconditional love of Creator of All That Is. We do this by changing our brain wave cycle to include the “Theta” state, enabling spontaneous emotional, spiritual, and physical healing to help ourselves, our friends, and our family.
Growing scientific evidence shows that toxic emotion can contribute to disease and the awareness that emotions, feelings, and the power of thought have a direct bearing upon our physical health. As a result, there is increasing interest in changing how the mind influences the body to create optimum health. Belief and Feeling Work empower people with the ability to remove and replace negative emotions, feelings, and thoughts with positive, more empowering ones.
ThetaHealing™ can be most easily described as an attainable miracle for your life.

Women’s Annual Spirituality Celebration

Women’s Spirituality Celebration (WSC) is an annual multi-faith event that takes place on a weekend close to International Women’s Day. It grew out of a Women & Spirituality Dialogue (WSD) started in 1991 by Anglican women at UBC, finding a home for 15 years at the Vancouver School of Theology, co-sponsored by the Chalmers Institute. By 2001, reflecting the inclusion of women with non-Christian spiritual practices on the planning team, it changed its name and logo to WSC. For the last two years, it has been held at the Canadian Memorial Church and Centre for Peace.

Each year the celebration has focused on a specific theme pertinent to women’s spiritual lives. It has continued the tradition of drawing from local women’s expertise as workshop and large group worship leaders. Having an emphasis on interactive participation, the intention is to provide nourishment for women’s bodies, spirits, emotions, and minds through practices including the arts, contemplative and embodied spiritual practices, community building, and self-inquiry. In 2010, the celebration will be held at CMCCP, the evening of Friday, March 12, and all day Saturday, March 13.
