 Prayers of the Community

A Prayer By Caroline Penhale
August 27, 2006

Gracious God, Beloved One, we give you thanks for this community of faith and for the fellowship and love we experience here.  We are truly blessed to be able to gather freely in your name to share in your love.  May everyone here this morning feel welcomed and touched by Your Presence.

We extend our gratitude for the beautiful late summer days filled with sunshine and blissfully lazy moments. Help us to remember the more relaxed rhythm of our summer selves and be present to the wonder of creation as we head into the busyness of Fall.

For the moments in the day that make us smile, and friends that help us to laugh at life, thank you.  May we continually be open to experiencing Your joy in all that we do and everywhere we go.  Help us to choose Your joyful path Lord, even in the midst of difficult or painful times.

For our ability to do work that serves Your purpose, we thank you.  We appreciate all the ways You strengthen and inspire us on the journey and we trust… that You will sustain us always.

For Canadians working locally or abroad in peace building efforts.  Thank you for their devotion, service and commitment to peace.  Please nurture and support them, and make Your Presence known as they endeavour to make a difference.

Dear God we remember those who are hurting or in need of support.  In our own lives… and neighbourhoods… and backyards, as You do in the far reaches of the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Darfur among all other places,… dear God shine your Light.

In our own community, we pray for Mary Jamison and Elizabeth McLeod and for Florence Millen who is in St. Paul’s hospital.  May they recover fully and with ease.

For those in grief, transition, and worry, we pray for your guidance and deep peace. May anyone who is hurting in any way, find solace in Your love.

Let us take a moment to rest with You in Silence.

All this we pray in the name of Christ who taught us to say…

Our Loving God, In Whom Is Heaven…
