GROUNDHOG DAY
Let us pray....
Watchful and caring God, may this prayer help us to find our way to you this day. We are aware of your presence in the beauty of this space we share together - sunlight through stained glass, the flowers of remembrance, the sound of music, and the many moments of quiet peace which envelop us. We are grateful, God, for the renewing power of these experiences which help us to face the many challenges of our daily routines.
We are thankful, God, for the efforts of all those working to keep our community of faith active and involved - our Mission and Service work, the Streetmeals program, Peace in the City, our youth group to name a few. Guard us against cynicism and despair. Keep the good that lives in all of us alive and well.
Healer of the sick be with those suffering illness, grief, loneliness or despair. Comfort them God and move each of us to help when and where we can. Be with all those living in chaos that they might find relief from the terrible circumstances of their lives. Teacher of peace, give us courage and voice to speak against the senseless and destructive power of violence. Be with those leaders trying to find peaceful solutions to the many world conflicts, particularly those in the Middle East.
Help us to be creative , and to find new ways of approaching recurring problems. As today's readings remind us, love outweighs knowledge and technical skill when it comes to maintaining our dignity and respect for one another.
We pray for peace within ourselves , before we demand it of others. Please take a few moments to offer to God your own personal prayers of intercession and thanks...Bless all of us Lord, and help us to be receptive to your teachings as we pray together "Our Father.... |
